5 Fall Staples I’m Buying Right Now

As Fall approaches, I’ve noticed myself beginning to edit my closet for the new season. It’s a routine I follow every now and then – I donate or sell items I no longer wear and tidy up what remains. This allows me the opportunity to reassess and make smart purchases for the upcoming season.

My wardrobe usually stays pretty classic, and after browsing Saks, it was easy for me find a few essential pieces that are making their way into my shopping cart.

From a structured blazer to ballet flats, classic stripes, rounded handbags, and a good pair of well-loved denim, these fall staples are not just items on a checklist – they’re practically my fall fashion game plan.

Spend $250, get $50 off.

Spend $500, get $100 off.

Spend $750, get $150 off.

Spend $1K, get $200 off.

OVERSIZED STRUCTURED BLAZERS: Consider the blazer a key player in any wardrobe. I always recommend going for a relaxed fit, with shoulder padding. The fit of this one from Favorite Daughter was a winner for me; the side slits add a fresh and modern twist to this timeless piece. For reference, I went with a size small.

BALLET FLATS: Undoubtedly the “it shoe” right now. This pair by Loeffler Randall stands out as my top choice for comfort and style. I did find them to run a bit big, I would go down a 1/2 size.

STRIPES: I just bought this striped sweater from Saks (under $100) and it has the best fit. It’s slightly cropped and I plan to wear with high-rise denim, leggings, or black trousers. I took a small in this.

SOFT, ROUNDED HANDBAGS: I’ve had this Bottega Veneta Jodie bag for over a year now and it’s still one I reach for often. This shape is one we will be seeing a lot of this year.

STRAIGHT LEG DENIM: I’m not saying skinny jeans are out, wear what you feel best in, but if you are buying new denim, I would try a straight, relaxed leg like these from Agolde. This style also comes in a darker wash which I’m also seeing a lot of right now. They feel a bit more sophisticated and have a high-rise, flattering fit. For reference, I went with my normal jean size.
